Gift card on spend

What it does

Reward a big spend with your own gift card, spendable after a hold.

What it does

• A sale whose spend reaches your threshold earns a gift card of the value you set, from your own gift card item.
• The card is held at a balance of 0, then raised to its value when the hold has passed (24 hours by default). A Sales Manager sees it under the customer.
• A cancelled sale, or returns that take the spend below the threshold, void the cards it no longer earns, unless they have been used at the till.

How to set it up

• In Role Permissions, give the role IVENDNEXT GCS Integration (the install makes it) read on POS Invoice, Customer and Item, read and create on Gift Card, and read, create and submit on Gift Card Balance.
• Make the app's user: tick Is Desk User, give it that role alone and save. Then generate its API key (on the user, Settings, then Generate Keys).
• Add the IVENDNEXT GCS Settings record with the Title Default (the app reads only that one): the currency, the threshold, the card's value, your gift card item (not rechargeable, not cash, not store credit, not expiring within the hold), the cards per sale and the hold, then tick Enabled.
• Open the feed registration IVENDNEXT GCS Sales, choose that user as its Application User, tick POS Invoice and save. Then, in the App library, open the app's Details and press Connect again: the record says it sent that user's API key.

Good to know

• The card is not on that sale's receipt, and nothing sends its number to the customer yet. A return without the receipt voids nothing.
• Switching the app off stops new cards only; release or void held cards before you uninstall, or they stay at 0.
• Each card is a promotion cost: when it is spent, your gift card account is debited with no sale behind it. Book it as you book a promotion.
• The service at gift-card-on-spend.ivendnext.app reads your sales, returns and customers and writes gift cards; its key can set the balance of any gift card in your shop.
